The Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides a broad scope of services including, but not limited to the following:

Information and Referral

MCDHH provides information concerning topics such as Deaf Culture, service dogs, sign language, Interpreter Training Programs, and the legal rights of deaf and hard of hearing people, as well as referrals to appropriate sources for additional services and information.

Administration of Missouri Interpreters Certification System

MCDHH administers the Missouri Interpreters Certification System (MICS), which includes providing information concerning interpreting services and the laws regulating interpreters in Missouri, developing and implementing the administrative rules governing the MICS, evaluating and certifying interpreters, and promoting, supporting, and providing professional development opportunities for interpreters.

Workshops and Training

MCDHH provides workshops and training for both hearing persons and persons with hearing loss concerning a side variety of subjects, including deaf awareness, advocacy, empowerment, communications accessibility, and assistive technology.

Advocacy

MCDHH provides both individual and system-level advocacy for deaf and hard of hearing people. Most individual-level advocacy focuses on ensuring communications accessibility for people with hearing loss, while system-level advocacy focuses on obtaining new laws that improve the lives of people with hearing loss.
